A Fisherman-Inspired Room For Your Child

In decorating a child’s playroom or bedroom, having a theme is a fun way to refurbish the space. Your child will have a special getaway place, especially to make each day enjoyable for him. One great theme to apply for a special room makeover is a fisherman’s sanctuary. Your little angel might already be hooked with the fisherman’s lifestyle of fish, sea and boat. What is the best way to decorate the bedroom? This is after all the most personal room in the house and where relaxation is of utmost importance. Otherwise, the bedroom will defeat the purpose for what it was assigned – for sleeping.

The bedroom should be a space for comfort and privacy. The colors, decors, furniture, lighting and floor can all contribute to the positive ambiance of the room…or the lack of it. As the bedroom is the place to sleep and unwind, it should be made into a conducive space for such purposes. Mostly, we seek solitude from hectic schedules in the quiet of the bedroom. Why else do people run to cry in their bedroom and not in the kitchen? It’s a place of solace and personal space.

The color should be a subtle shade that connotes peace and quiet. That’s what we seek in the bedroom, right? A place not to party but to relax especially after a long day. A sound sleep is precious, so try to make your bedroom a favorable place for rest. The color can affect that mood. Bright colors like yellow and orange, and warm tones like red can affect your sleep. These are stimulating colors and they can increase energy instead of bring you to sleep.

The Perfect Room: From Baby To Teen

When expecting a new baby, life is very exciting. The sonograms, shopping for baby clothes and picking out names are so much fun. Another great part of having a new baby is designing the nursery. While looking in the baby section one day I found a crib that was not just a crib. It could be converted into a twin size day bed and later into a full size bed. That made me think, “Why not design the whole nursery this way?” Often the first thing thought of when you hear the word nursery is pastels. These colors do not work as well as your child gets older. So, I have another suggestion. What if you were to decorate with something that would last for years?

The nursery is not going to be a nursery forever, so pick a theme that can be easily changed. Try a theme like the night sky. It is easy to do and can be used along with many themes. First paint the walls a dark blue. Then add smoky gray clouds in by ragging (using a wadded up rag to dab) on a medium gray paint in a circular pattern. Add glow in the dark stars and you have a night time sky. How do you make this look nice in a baby’s room? Well it is all about the accessories. For a nursery you should add a bed time theme.

Creating A Boy-Themed Room

It might be that your son’s too old for the nursery, or that he’s been showing attraction to a certain subject already.
